ELLE goes back a long way with the talented Ms Pinto. In fact, she did her first editorial feature with us way back in January 2006. I am embarrassed to say that it was not our best effort. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong and in spite of all our attempts the end result was not great. It was a frustrating, long day and tempers were frayed. What stood out in my mind though was the professionalism of the two rookie models. They were patient, motivated and willing to go that extra mile. Today one of them is a top model and the other – our cover girl – is an international star.

But when she first started out I don’t think anyone could have predicted her rapid rise to success. Yes, she is beautiful. Hard- working. Determined. And yes, with her debut Slumdog Millionaire, her career was fast-tracked. What makes Freida so unique is that she recognised the opportunity that was presented to her and made the most of it. In a most sensible manner. At this February 2010 photo shoot – when everything went right as you can see she was grace personified. But still really, really hard-working. We love Freida Pinto because she is a dream to work with.

Today, January 19, is Freida Pinto Fan’s one year anniversary! I can’t believe it was one year ago I launched this website, in the midst of all the Slumdog Millionaire-craze and award season. I adored Freida right away, and was so excited to learn about her new movies, L’Oreal contracts and more. Speaking of; what a year it’s been for Freida! I’m truly happy for her, and I can’t wait to see what the next year will bring us. And you can be sure that Freida Pinto Fan will be here all the way, providing you with the latest information, pictures and more!

Earlier today, Freida Pinto attended the launch of a new Louis Vuitton luxury store in Mumbai, India. She was photographed next to Indian celebrities such as Sendhil Ramamurthy (from Heroes), Shilpa Shetty, Malaika Arora Khan, Lara Dutta, Sameera Reddy and Shamita Shetty. An outtake from the new L’Oreal Paris campaign starring Freida Pinto – the Go 360 Clean face wash – has been added to the gallery. She looks beautiful in it, as seen above. With being a L’Oreal spokesmodel comes a lot of questions about beauty tips. Freida Pinto isn’t an exception. So here are a few of her basic things. And she uses the Go 360 Clean face wash too, of course. ;)

“I don’t have too many beauty tips because I am not fond of wearing too much make-up but the first would be to drink a lot of water because water really cleanses your system and it keeps you fresh and your eyes looking fresh. I also recommend adding a lot of fruit and vegetables to your diet and not making it too meat centric.

The next one would be sleep well – sleep is as important as food and water and keeps you looking fresh the next day. So if you get a good eight hours sleep it always helps. It all still takes work.”

Freida Pinto beat off competition from celebrities like supermodel Kate Moss and Lady GaGa to be in the top ten list of Vogue’s most stylish women of 2009. She is ninth on the list, which has been topped by British TV presenter Alexa Chung. Da Vinci Code actress Audrey Tautou on the second place, with Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker on third. X Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Danniie Minogue claimed fourth and the fifth spot, respectively.
