Yesterday the 61st Annual Directors Guild of America Awards was held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Freida Pinto along with co-stars Dev Patel & Anil Kapoor and director Danny Boyle were all in attendance. Miss Pinto looked fantastic in a short silvery dress, showing off her legs-for-days. Click on the previews below to view all photos in full size, as per usual.
Slumdog Millionaire walked away with yet another award! This time Danny Boyle received Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures. Are you too starting to smell some serious Oscar wins for the movie?
As mentioned in previous posts, Freida appeared on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on January 28. Screencaptures from the interview were added yesterday – and today I’m giving you the video! It’s really a great interview, well worth your watch. View the clip in video archive or after the cut!
Here’s the first part of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson coverage! I have added well over 200 HD screencaptures from the interview, where Freida looked amazing in a yellow dress. The interview was great fun and made me like Freida even more. I’m positive it will do the same thing to you. I especially like the part where Freida attempts to impersonate “Samara” from The Ring.
Check back to Freida Pinto Fan soon again for a video of the show!
Yesterday morning, Freida Pinto and Dev Patel stopped by On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about Slumdog Millionaire and how they’ve lived Hollywood so far. The duo also answered some listeners’ questions as they phoned in. Listen to the interview at Ryan’s official site, and view a few snapshots from the visit in the gallery. Freida looks fresh, natural and fantastic.
Bollyspice.com recently interviewed Freida about her experiences in the past six months, ever since Slumdog Millionaire premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It’s a up-close, great interview which I recommend all of you to read! Check out some tidbits from the interview below, and read the complete article here.
Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto has found two Oscar winning superstars to mentor her through her first Academy Awards experience – Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie. Both stars have offered the Indian actress words of advice and wisdom on the red carpets of a series of glitzy prizegivings – and Pinto feels sure she can go to the Hollywood leading ladies if she has any questions or concerns.
She says, “Angelina was really wonderful to talk to and very supportive of newcomers… She’s just like, ‘Embrace it. Enjoy it and keep it real. Don’t get affected by all this. Enjoy every moment.’
“And every time I have a question, Kate Winslet is always there to answer it. I found this new-found support in her.”
Here’s a reminder that Freida will appear on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight! The show – which will also be guested by actor Cuba Gooding Jr. – will air 12:35AM on CBS. Check back to Freida Pinto Fan for screen captures and a clip from the show.
I have added a couple of rare production stills (unfortunately in very small sizes, for now) as well as a picture from the promotional photoshoot for Slumdog Millionaire! As soon as I get the pictures in better quality, they will be replaced. Needless to say, Freida looks fantastic in every single photo. Is she even capable of taking a bad picture? Anyways, enjoy!
Fox Searchlight awards favorite Slumdog Millionaire was the darling of the weekend box office as it successfully opened nationwide for the first time in its run.
Buoyed by its 10 Oscar nominations, including one for best picture, Slumdog grossed an estimated $10.6 million from 1,411 runs for a per-location average of $7,477. Ticket sales were up 80%, while the film placed No. 5 overall. Total gross is $55.9 million in its 11th weekend.
Danny Boyle’s pic isn’t an easy sell considering it is set in India and is partly in Hindi. Yet the movie played strongly in markets across the country, including such locales as Columbia, S.C., and Butte, Mont.
“The film has exploded into the mainstream audience because of the Golden Globe Awards, the Academy nominations and now the Producers Guild of America best film award,” said Searchlight senior VP of distribution Sheila DeLoach.
Or, as an exec from a big studio said, “It has become the go-to film.”
I have scanned the December 2008/January 2009 issue of Complex magazine, which features a great spread of our Freida. The interview is quite standard, but the scans are definitely worth a look as the photo shoot is beyond hot! Click on the previews below to view them all in full size. Enjoy!
