Variety is reporting that Tom Felton has joined the cast of Rise of the Apes. He will portray the son of Brian Cox’s character, who owns an ape facility. The film will be set in San Francisco and chronicles the events that leads to the apes to achieve dominance over the humans, which all stems from a series of genetic engineering experiments.

Rupert Wyatt is directing the film from Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa’s script. The film will begin production sometime later this month.

Rise of the Apes comes to theaters June 24th, 2011 and stars James Franco, Brian Cox, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto and now Tom Felton.

Earlier today the first international trailer from Miral was released. I have now added screen captures of Freida Pinto as Miral in the movie, directed by Julian Schnabel. It truly looks like a great movie and it hits US cinemas in limited release on December 3rd.

As mentioned in a previous post, the international trailer from You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger was released a couple of days ago. I have now added HD screen captures of Freida’s scenes featured in the trailer. She looks beautiful in the movie, and is wearing red in each scene as you might notice.

The first trailer from Miral is finally here! The film – starring Hiam Abbass, Freida Pinto, Willem Dafoe, Vanessa Redgrave, Alexander Siddig and Makram Khoury – is an adaptation of Italo-Palestinian Rula Jebreal’s book about the real-life Palestinian woman Hind Husseini. She started the Dar Al-Tifl orphanage in Jerusalem in the wake of the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel. The movie will span the years 1948-1994.

Judging by the trailer (and the fact that it’s directed by Julian Schnabel!), i looks to be a great movie. And Freida Pinto looks absolutely stunning as Miral. Check out the trailer below!

According to The Wrap, Brian Cox is reuniting with director Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) for 20th Century Fox’s Rise of the Apes. Cox is presently in final negotiations to play the nefarious owner of a primate sanctuary who runs the facility with no compassion for the animals that live there.

Rise of the Apes is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. The script was written by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.

WETA digital is going to render photo-realistic apes for the first time in the history of the franchise, as opposed to actors in ape costumes.

Great news, y’all! Freida Pinto is set to appear on the cover of T: The New York Times Style Magazine’s September issue! I can’t wait to see the sure-to-be stunning photos and interesting article (probably promoting You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger). Thanks to Red Rose for the heads up. The very first trailer from You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger has been released onto the web! Unfortunately it’s in Spanish so unless you speak the language it’s a bit difficult to understand. However it does contain a few scenes with Freida Pinto looking stunning as Dia so it might just be worth the watch. Check it out below. I will post an English one when available!

Tonight Freida Pinto attended a new event, the first in over three months! Namely the New York premiere of The Last Airbender, the new action/fantasy movie starring none other than her boyfriend (and Slumdog Millionaire co-star) Dev Patel. Freida looked stunning in a green dress as she posed for photographers.

According to 20th Century Fox’s Twitter page (via Movie Web), the man who stepped into a motion-capture suit to portray Gollum will do so again for a new Fox film. Andy Serkis has reportedly joined the cast of Rise of the Apes.

Serkis will star as the lead ape Caesar the, “chimp who leads the simian revolt.” Serkis joins a cast that already includes James Franco, John Lithgow and Freida Pinto. Here’s a synopsis for the film below.
