The day is finally here – Guerrilla premieres tonight on Showtime! Created by Academy Award-winner John Ridley, the six part mini-series was inspired by true events, and tells the story of a pair of activists in 1970s London set out to free a political prisoner and wage a resistance movement. Starring Freida Pinto, Idris Elba and Babou Ceesay, Guerrilla has received great reviews with terrific mentions for Freida.
Variety said “Pinto is exceptional in the role. The actress carries a certain gravitas into her role as Jas Mitra, and as a result she’s both hard to read but strangely familiar by the time the real fireworks start. Pinto proves to have enough heft as an actress that she can balance how zealously she is watched, and how symbolically she is interpreted, into a chin-upraised defiance that channels both Angela Davis and Patty Hearst — a chic icon that is either leading or childishly swept up in something vast and seething.”
Be sure to tune in to Showtime tonight at 9PM to watch the first part of Guerrilla. I have included a few trailers, clips and interviews in this post for you to watch before tonight’s episode. Enjoy!
The new six-part limited event series “Guerrilla,” from executive producer John Ridley will premiere on Sunday, April 16 at 9 p.m. The drama will premiere in the U.S. on Showtime and in the U.K. on Sky in the same week.A love story set in one of the most explosive political times in U.K. history, “Guerrilla” tells the story of a 1970s London couple who liberates a political prisoner and forms a radical underground cell. The group targets the Black Power Desk, a true-life counter-intelligence unit within Special Branch dedicated to crushing all forms of black activism. Though set against a backdrop of social upheaval and activism, the story focuses on the relationship between the two characters at its center.
It stars Frieda Pinto, Babou Ceesay and Idris Elba, who also serves as an executive producer. Along with Ridley and Elba, executive producers are Michael J. McDonald, Patrick Spence Katie Swinden, and Tracy Underwood. Ridley wrote the majority of the episodes and directs the first two and the finale. “Guerrilla” is a co-production between Fifty Fathoms and ABC Signature, in association with SKY UK.
Freida Pinto guested Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday to promote Immortals, and she sure was looking gorgeous while doing so. Freida talked about meeting (or, seeing rather) Jimmy for the first time, taking a road trip with Dev and, of course, Immortals. This is one of my favorite interviews with Freida; she gives us so many facial expressions (see them all in the screen captures) and was smiling and laughing non-stop.
I have added over 300 screen captures from her appearance to the gallery, as well as two clips (the entire interview) to the video archive. Enjoy!
As we mentioned yesterday, Freida Pinto appeared on Extra‘s The Grove special to talk about Immortals. She looked absolutely beautiful in a multi-colored dress and some cool shoes. This is one of my favorite looks as of late, she truly looks stunning, don’t you think? I have added 60 pictures from the taping to the gallery. Video will be coming shortly as well. Stay tuned!
As previously mentioned, Freida Pinto is set to guest Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight to promote Immortals. Be sure to tune in to ABC to see the interview! The other guests on tonight’s episode are Robert Pattinson and Thompson Square. Check back with us tomorrow for coverage from her appearance! She will appear on Extra‘s The Grove special this afternoon, as well!
Also, Freida appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, but we still haven’t been able to find the interview online. However, a clip of them talking about the film’s nudity and Freida’s butt double was released by Ellen’s website, and you can watch the clip below. It’s super-funny (love Ellen’s presents) and Freida can’t get any cuter than in this video.
As mentioned before, Freida Pinto is scheduled to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday! A preview video of the episode has been posted on the official website, and it features a clip of a beautiful Freida talking about her body double (“it’s a 3-D butt now!”) in Immortals. Watch it below.
Be sure to tune in to the show on Monday to see the entire interview. Freida Pinto Fan will, of course, provide you with video and screen captures of the clip as well.
Great news! As the premiere of Immortals draws near (superexcited!), new talk show alerts are starting to drop in! So far, it’s been announced that Freida Pinto will appear on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on November 7 and Jimmy Kimmel Live on November 9 (thanks to visitor Emma for the heads-up!).
I will list all the alerts in the sidebar (under “media alerts”), so be sure to take a look there to know where you’ll be able to catch Freida in the media!
Here are the screen captures of Freida Pinto on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that I promised to add! They’re all in HD (is there a better way to view a photo of Freida!?) for your viewing pleasure. I absolutely love this interview, Freida’s awesome talking about Small Wonders, the “heat wave” (really? said Freida) in New York and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Click on the previews below to see all the captures in HD.
Speaking of talk shows, Freida Pinto will appear on The View along with James Franco and Andy Serkis today! Check back to Freida Pinto Fan later for coverage.
Yesterday, Freida Pinto appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to talk about her role in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. She looked great in a green/yellow-ish dress on the show, as she chatted about the movie, Andy Serkis as Caesar and moving around for roles. I have added photos of Freida arriving (in a purple outfit) as well as leaving the studio after taping her interview.
Next up: Screen captures and a video of her interview. Stay tuned!
