Not only does Freida Pinto have Immortals coming out this November; but Black Gold as well! The adventure drama set in the 1930′s stars Freida (duh), Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim and more. To promote the movie, in French theaters on November 23, she’s on the cover of Madame Figaro. Freida looks gorgeous in the photoshoot, which has been added along with behind the scenes-pictures and the cover to the gallery.

The expansive press tour for Immortals has started! A bunch of interviews with the cast was released earlier today, and Freida Pinto is featured in most of them. She was interviewed by E!, Access Hollywood and The Insider alongside Stephen Dorff in the first videos to be released. They also include Henry Cavill, Luke Evans and Mickey Rourke.

Freida Pinto walks into a bar. No, that’s not the beginning of a joke, it’s actually a succinct observation about the fact that she is walking completely alone—no minder, no publicity—into the bar and restaurant of the Soho Hotel in London. Sure, it’s a late June afternoon at the ebb of the café’s normally busy daytime service, but still, Pinto’s solitary state suggests an independent spirit, someone who is good at looking after herself. And that is undoubtedly a good way to be when you’re as head-spinningly gorgeous as she is, never mind one half—the other being British actor Dev Patel—of the most adorable couple in global moviedom.

If Pinto arrived on the comet that was 2008’s Slumdog Millionaire, her career path has followed a scarcely less surprising trajectory—only 26 years old and four years into her filmography, she’s already worked with a handful of the world’s most adventurous and discerning directors. This year alone she has veered from the intensity of Julian Schnabel’s Israeli-Palestinian political drama Miral and the upcoming Middle-East epic of oil Black Gold, through the CGI-and-testosterone-loaded fantasy of Immortals, in which she plays a Greek priestess, to this month’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, where she plays a primatologist, opposite James Franco. But the part that might come to define Pinto’s immediate future could well be Trishna, Michael Winterbottom’s contemporary revisioning of the Thomas Hardy classic Tess of the d’Ubervilles. With the tragic tale relocated to Rajasthan, the film will hopefully win the hearts and minds of the one market that has yet to surrender to Pinto’s charms: her homeland, India. But before we get to that, it’s her hometown that requires attention.

Actress Freida Pinto has been forced to defend herself from critics in her native India over allegations she has turned her back on Bollywood. Pinto rose to international fame in 2008′s Slumdog Millionaire and she has since appeared in a string of Hollywood and American indie projects such as Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and the upcoming films Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Immortals.

But the Mumbai-born actress’ blossoming film success is resented back home by critics, who feel she should be appearing in more Indian movies.

She tells Interview magazine, “I haven’t done a film in India because I haven’t found a script that’s completely gotten my attention and made me passionate to get it made. I keep saying I’m not at all famous in my own country, because people do not think I have done anything for India.

“I was upset initially. I guess everybody in India has tried really hard to do what they do and then move into the West… The reason why I’m doing these things outside my country, bit by bit, is to be able to come back to India equipped with the knowledge and understanding of how to hopefully produce my own films one fine day.”
