Earlier today, Freida Pinto and boyfriend Dev Patel was spotted moving in to a rental home in Santa Monica, California. The house is reportedly worth about $1.5 million and is located in the LA suburbs. The pair looked super happy and was all-smiles as they (well, mostly Dev) carried their boxes into the house.

Updated: Freida’s publicist says she was just helping him set up at the apartment his production team put him up in while he films his HBO mini series (Aaron Sorkin’s More as the Story Develops). Freida simply happened to be in the same city, promoting her upcoming film Immortals and shooting for the Ellen DeGeneres Show. “She only helped Dev with his stuff for the tenure of his shoot. Dev and Freida have not moved in together. Dev’s base is still very much London, like Freida’s is Mumbai. They both travel based on their work requirements, and do not have homes, rented or owned anywhere else other than their original base. Anything contrary to this, is completely untrue and incorrect.” And there we have it!

According to several Indian news sites, Freida Pinto has inked a two-year endorsement deal with a high fashion apparel brand worth $7 million.

She is expected to get $3.5 million a year, and “since it is a two year deal, it makes it a $7 million deal. In Indian rupees, it comes out to be approximately Rs.35 crore. It is higher than what any Indian female celebrity has ever been paid,” said a source close to the 27-year-old Indian model-turned-actress.

When contacted, Anirban Das Blah, managing director of KWAN (the agency that handles Freida’s endorsements in India), told IANS: “It’s a policy never to comment on brand deals. We’ve witnessed Freida’s phenomenal growth in such a short span, and that too on a global platform. Brand Freida stands for very rare, unique and irreplaceable values and imagery, making her the ideal choice for a brand with a global appeal and an Indian focus.”

Although it’s still unknown what fashion brand she’s signed for (if the rumors are to be believed), she has been seen with Calvin Klein Collection‘s Women’s Creative Director Francisco Costa (and wearing Calvin Klein) lately. Maybe there’s a hint there? When facts about this turn up, I’ll post it here. Stay tuned!

The winners of the Elle Personal Style Awards were announced yesterday, and Freida Pinto was one of them! She was named ‘Miss Congeniality’ by the fashion magazine. Among the other winners are Mila Kunis (‘The Hottie Next Door’), Blake Lively (‘Self-Made’ reputation for not employing a stylist for herself), Rooney Mara (‘New Romantic’), and British singer Florence Welch (‘Renaissance Woman’).

Elle recognised a total of 29 celebrities and designers for their impeccable taste and daring statements. Congrats to Freida for being one of them!

Actor Anil Kapoor, who superbly bonded with the cast of Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, has nothing but good wishes and expectations from Freida Pinto’s much acclaimed Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The actor, who won the admiration of his Hollywood team and led the forefront at Slumdog‘s Oscar success in Hollywood, is reportedly still very good friends with Freida Pinto and is keen to see her in the recently released Planet of the Apes reboot, which also stars James Franco. When talking about Freida Pinto, Kapoor said:

Great news, everyone: Freida Pinto is set to grace the pages of US Vogue soon! Yesterday she was photographed leaving the set of a photoshoot for the prestigous magazine in Malibu, California. She looked summery in a white dress as she departed the scene. I have featured a photo of her, which can be seen below.

Freida Pinto was initially “surprised” by James Franco’s style of acting. The actress stars alongside the actor in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and while, at first, she was taken aback by his methods, she started to learn from him.

She said: “He’s got his own unique and distinctive style of acting. It’s not conventional at all. It does take you by surprise initially, but it’s all about being flexible and trying to understand how another actor works. I found a lot of things in his acting style that I could pick up and learn from.”

The Slumdog Millionaire beauty says she was drawn to star in the film because it humanised chimpanzees. She explained to Total Film magazine: “It appealed to me because I never felt like I was reading a script about chimpanzees. I just felt like there was some humanising there.”

About her character, Pinto said: “I play a primatologist and I have dedicated my entire life to chimpanzees. Caroline is the voice of reason but it’s a nice voice of reason without being preachy.”

I want to wish a very happy birthday to our Freida Pinto! She’s turning 26 years today, and as she’s currently in London (more on this in the upcoming post!) As previously mentioned, Freida Pinto, is currently back in India. She missed the world premiere of  Miral at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday night as she had to return home for an emergency. Here’s what her spokesperson had to say about it.

“Yes, Freida has come to attend to a personal matter. But she will attend the screening of the film at the Toronto film festival, which is later this month.”

According to Italian site MyMovies.it, Freida Pinto had to cancel her attendance at the Venice Film Festival last-minute. She was expected to attend the world premiere of Miral tonight, but an emergency caused her to return to India instead.
