Woody Allen movie is now in production!
According to MEDIAPRO, one of the producers, the yet untitled Woody Allen Project is now in production! The cast includes Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Gemma Jones, Freida Pinto, Lucy Punch and Naomi Watts, and filming is expected to last about seven weeks. Here’s what the MEDIAPRO website said about the project.
The film is a comedy-drama, set in London, about a number of people in a family, their assorted love lives, and they all trying to work out complicated romances.
“Once again I’m blessed with a fabulous cast. I’m happy to be back in London and working again with MEDIAPRO.” commented Woody Allen.
This is second time around for MEDIAPRO in the production of a Woody Allen film following the excellent experience of Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The film, which is slated to be released in the autumn of 2010, will be followed by two further MEDIAPRO Woody Allen productions.
Lucy Punch joins Woody Allen movie
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucy Punch is the next Nicole Kidman. In the new Woody Allen film, that is.
The British actress wowed the writer-director with a screen test and secured the role in Allen’s newest film that Kidman had taken in March and vacated weeks later.
The relative unknown, who starred on the CBS series The Class and had roles in Hot Fuzz and Ella Enchanted, joins Antonio Banderas, Freida Pinto, Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins in the untitled project.
Letty Aronson, Steve Tenenbaum and Jaume Roures are producing, with financing from Spain-based Mediapro, which also funded Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The film will shoot in London in the summer.
Anupam Kher joins Woody Allen film
Anupam Kher has been lined up to star in Woody Allen’s next film, alongside Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Antonio Banderas and Naomi Watts.
The Hindi actor has described being hired by the director as a “dream come true”, and will be joined in the movie by fellow Indian Freida Pinto. Kher will play Pinto’s father in the flick, which is yet to be officially named.
“Last year I worked with another international filmmaking legend, Ang Lee. Now, Woody Allen. What more could any actor ask for in his 25th year in the business?” said Kher.
Allen has informed the 54-year-old that his character and the plotline will only be fully revealed to him immediately before filming.

Nicole Kidman drops out of Woody Allen movie
According to several credible sources, Nicole Kidman has dropped out of Woody Allen’s next, untitled film. It was announced in March that she was set to star in the film, but she has now withdrawn for as-yet unspecified reasons.
The rest of the cast includes Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Freida Pinto, and given that everyone seems to want to work with Woody Allen, he isn’t expected to be lacking a leading lady for very long. Only problem is that, with Naomi Watts already on the cast list, the most obvious candidate to replace Kidman’s already accounted for.
We’ll keep you updated on this matter. Stay tuned!

Here’s what Freida recently said of the movie: “I haven’t even read the script. I spoke to him for 10 minutes. I’m going to New York to meet him,” Pinto revealed. “It happened literally last week, just before I came here for the Oscars. The sweetest Oscar gift ever. I’m going to do it because it’s Woody Allen.”
Since Freida’s in New York City at the moment, I think she has now met/will meet with Woody. I can’t wait to hear more details on the movie. So excited!
New project announced!
