Freida to Attend Abu Dhabi Film Festival Today!

As reported earlier, Freida Pinto is set to attend the Middle Eastern premiere of Miral later today! The screening will take place at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, where she will walk the red carpet with director Julian Schnabel and writer Rula Jebreal. Below is a tidbit from an article by Emirates247.com.

The schedule features two Middle Eastern premieres. “Miral”, the new film by Julian Schnabel (of “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” fame), is a sweeping multigenerational saga about four women living under the Israeli occupation of Palestine, a layered narrative that revolves around the Dar Al-Tifel Institute, the orphanage for street children set up by Hind Husseini in the Jerusalem of 1948.

The film’s star Freida Pinto attends the 6.30pm screening at Emirates Palace along with Julian Schnabel and the journalist Rula Jebreal, on whose semi-autobiographical novel the film is based.

As mentioned in the previous post, Freida Pinto appeared on the UK talk show Daybreak earlier today. She talked about working on Miral and how her life changed after Slumdog Millionaire. BFI London Film Festival – Promoting ‘Miral’, Part 4

I have updated the gallery 85 photos (mostly HQs) from the Miral photocall and premiere during the 54th BFI London Film Festival yesterday! Freida looked spectacular in an old Hollywood-inspired outfit (by Alexander McQueen) at the premiere and classy in beige at the photocall. Simply click on the preview above to see all the new photos. Apparently Freida didn’t get to spend her birthday with Dev Patel as he was in India filming for a new movie. But she did get to see her family, which accompanied her to the London premiere of Miral. Below are a few nice quotes of Freida talking about her family, taken from her appearance on the UK show Daybreak. More on this coming soon!

“The special thing was that I had this amazing film to promote yesterday. I’m so glad it was something that I enjoyed doing and not something that I was forced to do. I spent the entire day doing that and I flew my family down to London because I know they would have to wait a very long time in India to watch this film. I flew them down so they could share this experience with me. It was really the most low-key but amazing birthday.

They’ve done things for me their entire lives. I was just saying to my mum and dad that this is the best birthday gift because it is because of you that I’m here, it’s because of you that I’m doing this film. And this film explores this beautiful father/daughter relationship. Julian made my dad very happy because at the press screening, he said, ‘I know that she really loves her dad.’ And somebody started clapping in the audience; I think my dad felt really happy about it.”

To conclude her day of promotion, Freida attended the London premiere of Miral at the 54th BFI London Film Festival. Freida looks beautiful and very happy, dressed all in black, whilst celebrating her birthday also.
