At least he says so! According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Showbiz411 blog, Schnabel says Miral is his best movie yet. After The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and Before Night Falls, that’s saying a lot! He also mentioned that the movie is close to be finished and that Freida Pinto portrays the title character of Miral.

There’s also a rumor saying that the movie is very likely to be shown at the Cannes Internation Film Festival in May! When more information about this surfaces, you can be sure to find it here. :)

The Slumdog Millionaire actress took two-week-long tuitions to learn Arabic language. It’s heard that Freida’s role requires her to speak Arabic in some parts of the movie, as she plays a woman who speaks English with Arabic accent.

When Freida heard about her character, she insisted Julian Schnabel, the Oscar-nominated director, to get a private tutor so that she can learn the language and perfect her dialogue delivery. The actress is now in Jerusalem, shooting for the movie.

Miral is based on a book written by Rula Jebreal about the account of Hind Husseini’s effort to establish an orphanage in Jerusalem after the 1948 partition of Palestine when Israel was re-created.

According to reports, the role of Freida in the movie is very challenging and the lady wanted to add perfection to her character and hence prepared herself prior to the shoot by learning Arabic.

It’s been officially confirmed that Freida is set to act in Julian Schnabel’s next movie, Miral! The movie’s an adaptation of Italo-Palestinian Rula Jebreal’s book about Hind Husseini, who founded an orphanage in Jerusalem in the wake of the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel. Schnabel wrote the screenplay.

I’m so freakin’ excited for this project, it sounds like it could be an awesome movie with a chance to fantastic characters. I’m sure Freida will do a great job.

Additional info on Freida’s upcoming movie Miral has been released. Read the new article here. According to the site, the screenplay was adapted by Julian Schnabel (also the director) from a book by Palestinian-Italian writer Rula Jebreal, who collaborated on the script. It focuses on the interwoven lives of a few Israeli and Palestinian women, from the early years of the state through the early 1990s.

In Miral, Pinto will be sharing the screen with female lead Hiam Abbass (Lemon Tree), a Palestinian actress who lives in France. The film’s Israeli producer, Eran Riklis, said yesterday that casting for the film has not been completed.
