Kellan Lutz joins ‘War of the Gods’

Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz has been tapped join the cast of Tarsem Singh’s Greek mythology clash War of the Gods opposite Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and Freida Pinto, reports Variety.

War of the Gods follows the young warrior Theseus who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind. Lutz has been cast as Poseidon, lord of the sea. As previously announced, Freida will play the oracle Phaedra.

The movie is already in production in Montreal, Canada.

Confirmed: Mickey Rourke joins ‘War of the Gods’

According to several sources, Mickey Rourke has signed on to star in Relativity Media’s War of the Gods, about a Greek mythological battle, starring opposite Henry Cavill and Freida Pinto.

According to Variety, the story follows a young warrior Theseus who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind.

Rourke has been cast as the villain, King Hyperion. Tarsem Singh is directing. Pinto will portray Phaedra, an oracle priestess who must join Theseus – played by Cavill – on his quest to prevent the cataclysmic war from erupting. Jason Keller penned the most recent draft of the script. The original screenplay was written by Christian Gudegast.

Production is set to start in April.

Mickey Rourke to join ‘War of the Gods’?

According to Deadline Hollywood, Mickey Rourke is possibly joining Freida Pinto and Henry Cavill in War of the Gods. He’s supposedly being courted by Millennium Films and Lionsgate to join the remake of Conan The Barbarian, titled just Conan, which is the Marcus Nispel-directed reinvention of the Robert E. Howard creation. Rourke is negotiating to play Corin, the father of Conan who’s played by Jason Momoa.

At the same time, Rourke is negotiating for the Tarsem Singh-directed War of the Gods and the part of King Hyperion, the ruler of Ancient Greece who does battle with the divines.

Conan begins shooting in Bulgaria in late March and War of the Gods begins April 7th, so it is possible he might need to make a choice between the two projects.

Freida Pinto joins ‘War of the Gods’

According to Variety, Freida Pinto has boarded director Tarsem Singh’s War of the Gods, which centers on a Greek mythological battle.

The story follows young warrior Theseus who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind. Freida Pinto will portray Phaedra, an oracle priestess who must join Theseus – played by Henry Cavill (The Tudors) – on his quest to prevent the cataclysmic war from erupting.

The most recent draft of War of the Gods was penned by Jason Keller. The original screenplay was written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides.

Production is set to start in April.
