‘Immortals’ Set for a $33-35 Million Opening Weekend!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Relativity Media’s R-rated action-epic Immortals is on course to top the Friday box office with $13.5 million to $14 million, putting it course to gross north of $33 millon for the weekend if business stays strong.

Tracking had suggested a $25 million to $26 million opening weekend for Immortals, but the film is overperforming on the strength of fanboys.

Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity, which fully financed and produced Immortals, is counting on fanboys to buoy the violence-laced R-rated film, a fantasy adventure along the same lines as box office hit 300. Immortals, a key test for Relativity, cost $75 million to produce after tax rebates.

Immortals scored high marks in test screenings, and also stars Mickey Rourke, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Freida Pinto and Luke Evans. The pic opens day and date in a number of key territories, including China (through Relativity’s co-venture with Skyland), Germany, Italy, the U.K., South Korea, Japan and South Korea.

Relativity insiders say Immortals only has to open to $25 million for the company to be on sound financial footing, since so much of the budget was financed through foreign presales.

This is truly great news for everyone involved with the project! If you still haven’t seen it; be sure to go watch it tonight – it’s definitely worth it!

‘Immortals’ Earns $1.4 Million in Midnight Showings

Great news, everyone! According to The Wrap, Immortals screened in 900 locations at the midnight shows for a total of $1.4 million! It expands to 3,100 theaters over the weekend.

By way of comparison, last summer’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes brought in $1.3 million in 1,024 theaters on its way to a $54.8 million debut.

Relativity projects that its $75 million after tax rebates swords-and-sandals action film will crack a middling $25 million on its opening weekend, but the studio seems enthused by the late screening figures. It will face off against Oscar contender J. Edgar and Adam Sandler’s critically panned Jack & Jill.

If you haven’t seen Immortals yet, be sure to see it this weekend! I saw it tonight, and it was awesome. Most of all it looked like nothing else out there; and it has Freida Pinto in 3D!

‘Immortals’ is Unleashed in Theaters Worldwide Today!

The date is 11/11/11, and you know what that means! Immortals is finally being released in theaters in countries all around the world! The Greek epic is directed by the awesome Tarsem Singh, and stars Henry Cavill, Freida Pinto, Mickey Rourke, Kellan Lutz, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas and more. Be sure to visit your local cinema tonight to support the cast and crew – and to get a cool cinematic experience! I know I will. For those of you who still don’t know what Immortals is, I’ve included the synopsis and a trailer below!

Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.

Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king’s hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man’s conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion…until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope.

Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders–including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff) — one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.

Clips & Captures of Freida Pinto on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Freida Pinto guested Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday to promote Immortals, and she sure was looking gorgeous while doing so. Freida talked about meeting (or, seeing rather) Jimmy for the first time, taking a road trip with Dev and, of course, Immortals. This is one of my favorite interviews with Freida; she gives us so many facial expressions (see them all in the screen captures) and was smiling and laughing non-stop.

I have added over 300 screen captures from her appearance to the gallery, as well as two clips (the entire interview) to the video archive. Enjoy!

Pictures of a Beautiful Freida Pinto on ‘Extra’

As we mentioned yesterday, Freida Pinto appeared on Extra‘s The Grove special to talk about Immortals. She looked absolutely beautiful in a multi-colored dress and some cool shoes. This is one of my favorite looks as of late, she truly looks stunning, don’t you think? I have added 60 pictures from the taping to the gallery. Video will be coming shortly as well. Stay tuned!

Freida on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Tonight + ‘Ellen’ Clip

As previously mentioned, Freida Pinto is set to guest Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight to promote Immortals. Be sure to tune in to ABC to see the interview! The other guests on tonight’s episode are Robert Pattinson and Thompson Square. Check back with us tomorrow for coverage from her appearance! She will appear on Extra‘s The Grove special this afternoon, as well!

Also, Freida appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, but we still haven’t been able to find the interview online. However, a clip of them talking about the film’s nudity and Freida’s butt double was released by Ellen’s website, and you can watch the clip below. It’s super-funny (love Ellen’s presents) and Freida can’t get any cuter than in this video.
